Ad Astra Infant School is located in Canford Heath, Poole, Dorset.  The school is a three form entry school from Early Years to Year 2.  Currently there are 269 children on roll.

Ad Astra school was deemed to be ‘good’ by Ofsted in January 2018. It is rated “Green” by Poole Local Authority (no concerns).

Ofsted comments included:

“As a result of leaders’ determined actions, pupils’ outcomes have risen sharply”

“Learning themes motivate pupils and provide appropriate challenge.”

“Teachers and other adults use a variety of ways to generate children’s interest and learning. Assessments of children’s learning are often detailed and used well to plan learning.”

“Pupils said that they feel safe and know how to keep safe.”

“The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is good. Pupils are very prod of the ‘rights respecting’ culture in the school. They have a good understanding of right and wrong.”

Our aim is for the children of Ad Astra to become ‘lifelong learners’ and through our teaching and learning give them the necessary skills, qualities and attributes for their future life.
